Mauritania has not recognized Sadr and maintains a positive line of neutrality: cautious public discourse, support for the UN framework, but close cooperation with Rabat. Border dynamics matter a lot: Guerguerat is a very active axis on the Mauritanian side, and Morocco recently opened a new Saharan passage to Mauritania.
